The vegetable tanned leather is from a tannery in Tuscany and has a beautiful suede like finish on the backside. I get 2 hides in each color one for the body of the bag (4. 5 5 oz) and the other is a heavier weight hide (7. 5 8 oz) that I use for the straps. All hand stitched with matching Ritza Tiger thread from Germany well known for its strength and
