A large maple burl with bark inclusions and scarring has wonderful grain patterns that reflect light from every angle

I love this piece for the contrast of the movement in the foreground against the soft textures of the woods in the back and the silence it evokes

stocking through the gardens and sunbathing on its favorite rock

As I generally gravitate towards awkwardly twisted and imperfect features in the raw pieces of wood it forces me as an artist to remain fluid in my visions and expectations of the finished product

So much so that I feel he may be the hunter of a photo op and not me
