伊賀焼は高温で焼かれることによって、降りかかった薪の灰が緑色のガラス質のビードロとなり、また、灰かぶりや黒い焦げ、山割れが生じ、独特の風合いとなるのが特徴的です。見る角度によって、様々な表情を持った花器となっています。

木造建築物の2つの木材をつなぎ合わせる時に使用される、接合金物真鍮の鎹（カスガイ）に見立てたワンポイントが特徴的です。
