It was originally built during the first Spanish occupation of St. Augustine. After the twenty year British occupation, it was sold in a public auction to Juan Sanchez during the second Spanish occupation of St. Augustine in 1791. Restoration of this house began in 1958 and it is on the National Register of Historical Places.
