This 5 minute recital work begins with a slow, dark melody full of vocal styled nuances, leading to variations and embellishments with the freedom afforded by unaccompanied instrumental solos. ST. PAULS BLUES was commissioned by the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra for flutist Alicia McQuerrey to premiere on the SPCOs website during the 2020 21 pandemic season.
