The 1962 and 1959 Petrus were two of the finest bottles I have ever tasted of these vintages

This terrific effort is very clearly built-to-age and I wouldn't dream of touching a bottle for at least 10 years and it should easily reward 20

The old vines are very much in evidence as there is a true abundance of palate soaking dry extract that imparts a velvety mouth feel to the mid-palate and buffers the very firm tannins on the youthfully austere

austere and beautifully persistent finish

culminating in a slightly austere and ever-so-mildly dry finish of solid though not exceptional persistence
