Theres as much reliance on the luck of the draw as any TCG - the starter decks I played with didnt have too many abilities allowing players to draw extra cards, though there are definitely cards in The First Chapter with greater card draw effects - and it feels closely balanced to avoid players being steamrolled without good reason
The most common pairing is to use Be Prepared either with Sapphire or Amethyst, and each has their own pros and cons
Julieta Madrigal Excellent Cook is great in theory, but the deck doesnt have many cheap characters that can take two damage in a challenge and survive
They remind me a bit of Kuzco - Wanted Llama, which saw a decent amount of play in the Floodborn meta, and I think this card could see play as well
There are also gift boxes with extra boosters, foil cards and oversized cards
When the card is first played, you can draw a card then choose one from your hand to discard
