He studied painting at the Copenhagen Technical School and The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, with further artistic guidance from the respected artist Elof Christian Risebye at his private painting school. The artist relocated to Paris and produced a number of paintings from his small studio under the pseudonym 'Jean Le Van'. After marrying Spanish artist Carmen Lillian
