2018 Volnay, Santenots, 1er Cru, Pierre Morey, Burgundy st-aubin it has the more focusedMore reserved than the exuberant Volnay Pitures from Maison Morey Blanc, the domaine's 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots unwinds to reveal notes of cherries, plums, burning embers, sweet soil tones and spices. Medium to full bodied, it's muscular and nicely concentrated, with powdery tannins and a chalky grip on the finish. As I wrote last year, it's always a pleasure to visit Domaine Pierre Morey, one of my favourite addresses in the Cte de Beaune.
