Mediocre removal spells need love, and great players recognize that sometimes a mediocre removal spell in the right place, at the right time can turn the tide of an entire game (or at least one combat step).
It sets up any of black's non-sacrifice synergies efficiently, and it's a flying 6/6 for some reason, so it poses a decent clock
You can include up to two copies of a card in each deck
As such, Explorer is fun as a stand-alone format, and also makes for effective cross-training for Pioneer players
If a creature with a reconfigured creature attached to it dies then the reconfigured equipment becomes a creature as if it reconfigured a second time
