I dont think these changes make the deck any less friendly to new players, while they do increase the power level.

Yes, they have access to Stoke the Flames, but they dont always have it, and even when they do, it is one of their best cards and casting it in that window often involves at least a small tempo loss

The Upgrades There are the handful of relatively cheap equipment that work great with Cloud like Loxodon Warhammer which bumps Cloud's power to 7 and gives him evasion and lifelink, or Sunforger which also bumps up Cloud to the magic number but also gives us a ton of free tutorable interaction each turn
