It can be found growing as a hedge along roads and in gardens in coastal areas. Loved by pollinators, our hedge seems to vibrate with their buzzing when the iconic purple pink and red flowers are open throughout late spring to autumn. As a child, I was shown how to break off a flower stem and suck on the nectar at the base of the flower, a tradition that I
