Scandinavian Wrought Iron Candle Holder c.1800 Ecclesiastical Carving Andrew Handyside bought the BritanniaA rare and splendid example of Scandinavian Blacksmith's art in the form of a candle holder c. 1800 Reminiscent of the Swedish Eel spears which could have easily inspired its form in a society where hunting and fishing were daily activities for many. One can easily imagine the Blacksmith who would have been very well versed in making implements such as the Eel catchers, uprighting the design to create this naive and elegant piece.
