With clasps for: Cape Colony, Paardeberg, Driefontein. William Charles Schwitzer was born in Ottawa, Ontario. A member of the 43rd Ottawa and Carleton Battalion of Rifles of the Canadian Militia, he attested to the 2nd (Special Service) Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment in October, 1899. He served with the RCR in South Africa and was present at the Battle of Paardeberg.
